AJ2 and AJ Merging

Effective August 1st (2010), AJ2 – ArtistsJournals2, the Yahoo Group, will merge with another Yahoo Group, AJ, also known as ArtistsJournals.

I’m the founder/moderator/listmom of both groups.  Both groups have the same theme — art journaling, creativity, and art materials & techniques — and the two groups often include the same members.

It’s time to combine them.

AJ was originally created by the ever-brilliant LK Ludwig.  In 2001, when she needed time for other projects, she closed AJ.  I relaunched it immediately, under the name ArtistsJournals2.

(Yahoo wouldn’t let me use the original ArtistsJournals name for awhile.  Eventually, the name was available, so I grabbed it and created another group, mostly for my own journaling-related announcements.)

At its peak, AJ2 had over 1000 members, and I actually had to start AJ3 for the overflow.  However, that was many years ago.  Times have changed.

Now, after resuming the helm at AJ2 and at WildArtDolls, I’m beginning to get a better sense of what will serve the Yahoo and journaling communities better.

So, I’m merging AJ and AJ2, and taking a more active role as list moderator.  I’m also planning to ease into a more personal, flippant “voice” instead of keeping a low profile, as I have in the past.

Yes, there’s a certain, “Hey, go for broke” tone to that, but also a growing awareness of the flamboyance necessary to convey the energy behind what I do.

ArtistsJournals2 will remain online, but as an archive of amazingly great posts, ideas and art.  However, I’m asking AJ2 members to sign up for ArtistsJournals to continue the discussions about art & creativity & art journals.

Creativity quotes

I don’t think you have to do anything to make your life into a work of art — it is one. What you have to do is observe it, be aware of the weirdness, beauty and artistry that occurs every day. — Anne Maybe
