How to make art

Security alert – ‘Is this photo yours?’

question-75Have you received emails asking, “Is this photo yours?” with a link to check?

Artists are especially vulnerable to this kind of security scam.  I mean, we tend to be very protective of our artwork, and we want to know if it shows up on someone else’s website without permission… or without a note that it’s our artwork.

However, the emails that say this are sending you to links that can put your computer at risk.

Do NOT click on the link in the email.  If you’ve already clicked, run a virus check on your computer, immediately.

Generally, unless you know the person who sent you the link, and you’re sure it’s okay, never click on a link in email.

When in doubt, ask the friend who sent it to you — send them an email asking for the URL so you can see exactly what site & page you’re visiting — before clicking.
