Yesterday, in the middle of writing a post to help people opt-out of Facebook using your posts and photos, Facebook deleted my account.
In other words, Facebook’s AI ‘bots were watching my keystrokes. (That’s kind of creepy. Logical, but still creepy.)
I guess I was being too loud about Facebook’s June 26th deadline to protect your privacy. See https://elizadrawsthings.substack.com/cp/146012910 for what Facebook has been doing. And read MIT’s Technology Review about this, too. It’s not a minor issue.. it’s about your privacy and ownership of what you say, online.
More of my story is at my new Substack, though I’ll probably edit that, soon. I mean, it’s just so astonishing… and “ick.” I don’t like to talk about it. At all.
For now, please let friends know that I’m fine. Stunned by what happened, and with no warning, but there it is. Also, I’m posting at Substack, and test-driving a few other social media sites.
Frankly, it was a good (albeit harsh) wake-up call about being vulnerable to corporations’ whims, and the importance of having multiple ways to stay in touch with friends.
